For the first time in the history of the college, D. J. Sanghvi organised its biggest event of the year, the Internship Fair on the 4th of April,2016. Internships widen a student's perspective as it gives the student a platform to go beyond books and apply their knowledge practically. This opportunity was open to all third year students of the college.
DJ ACM believes in the principle that experience is the teacher of all things. With this view in mind, ACM organized its annual Industrial Visit to Tata Consultancy Services, Pune on Monday 29th February 2016. The visit was aimed at giving students much needed practical exposure into relevant applications in the field of computer science and providing them an insight to the everyday happenings of a software giant.
After conducting resoundingly successful events like Tech Talks, the Django and Blender workshops, ACM returned with AMBI, an event that served to inform the students about the varied fields that lie before them, and how to go about choosing their final year project topics.
We at ACM believe that experience,good or bad is the teacher of all things. Our flagship event, Tech Talks, conducted on the 9th of February, espoused this very principle to its core. Tech Talks provided an opportunity to interact with stalwarts, in fields as varied as computer science , entrepreneurship and finance.
After the resounding success of the Django Workshop, DJ-ACM organised the highly anticipated Blender Workshop on the 23rd and 24th of January,2016. Blender is an open source computer graphics software used for animation, 3D modelling simulation, and video editing.
2016 started off on a high note with an informative and riveting workshop on the Django framework based on Python organised by the ACM student chapter of the college. The basics of Python, HTML, CSS, Django and the operation of Github were taught to the enraptured audience with the help of the ACM co-committee diligently debugging as well as helping participants.
Garbage Loactor App
Inspired by the 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyan' DJ-ACM developed an Android app to aid the BMC. With the aim to clean up Mumbai, this initiative relies on the citizens of Bombay to report problem areas through the app. With a success rate of 95% the Garbage Locator app ensures cleanliness through mutual cooperation between the government and its citizens.
